Hello, this is Alli Rose! Yesterday we finished our first week of VBS, and it was amazing! I had so much fun getting to know the kids and hanging out with them all week. I have heard many of the team members from past years talk about the relationships they had built over this week of VBS, but I didn't truly understand the extent to which you can become someone's friend in just one week. I am amazed by how close I have gotten with so many of these kids, even though we couldn't really communicate at all, we had so much fun playing games, doing crafts, tackling each other on the slip ' n slide, and trying to speak each other's languages. With that, it was such a sad goodbye. While my heart was broken that I will likely never see these kids again, it was the weirdest mix of joy and sadness. I can't think of a better way to explain how I felt than the way Christa put it, she said: "My heart is broken but fulfilled"(or something like that). It is a feeling that really can't be explained, but I am sad to leave them; however, I feel that we have made an impact on their life for the better. God has been teaching me the importance of living life intentionally because God tells us to make the most of every opportunity. We helping run this camp for these kids is such a simple thing for us to do, but it could have impacted any one of these kids' lives for eternity, and that is such a beautiful thing. I feel that I have learned that God can do so much through simple acts of love. I am so grateful that I have gotten the honor to go on this trip and be apart if this amazing team. I am so excited for the next VBS and the rest of the trip!
