Week One Update

The first half of this trip has been nothing short of incredible! We started this week at the team house in Bucharest spending some time getting oriented with Romanian culture and the types of situations we would encounter throughout the the trip. On Sunday we went to church and headed out to the farm house in Nenciulesti. The village is like going back in time. We started VBS for kids from a local orphanage on Monday. We’d start the day with breakfast, devotionals, and set up. The kids arrived around 10:30. They would run up to us and give us all big hugs. We then spent sometime hanging out. We played volleyball, jumped on trampolines, and got sharpie tattoos. Then we’d head inside for a skit and some worship. After that they kids went around to different stations. I worked at the game station playing games like slip and slide soccer and rata rata guskga. Afterwards we’d have lunch then freetime. We rode zip lines, had conversations via google translate, and wrestled on the slip and slide. On Friday we packed up and headed back to Bucharest after saying goodbye to the kids. During the week smalls groups of people left the farm house to go a Vbs in the gypsy village. I had the joy of spending two evenings there. The kids ran up tot he van so excited to see “americanis” they were so fun and so loving! Today we enjoyed some spiritual and physical rest. Tomorrow we head back to the village for week 2 of VBS.
My favorite part of this week has been seeing how joyful the kids are despite their situations and how hard they love people they’ll only know for a week. They loved to do anything with us it didn’t matter what the activity was. Even though saying goodbye was hard, we knew that they knew they were loved by us. That means a lot to a kid who has so little. It was amazing to get to know them and their stories. I think they taught me more than I taught them.
Im excited for this next week! Be praying for strength and joy for the team!
Thank you for all your financials help to make it on this trip! It’s been such a blessing to me!
